Timnath sits on a small bluff east of the Cache la Poudre River, just east of the Harmony Road exit on I-25, southeast of Fort Collins. It grew up around the railroad line that arrived in 1882 linking Greeley and Fort Collins, and it got its name from the local Presbyterian minister, who chose Timnath from the Book of Judges when the post office opened. The church he helped found in 1883 still stands on Main Street.
For most of the 1900s Timnath was a farming town of fewer than 250 people, surrounded by potatoes, alfalfa, sugar beets, and cattle. It has since become one of the fastest-growing towns in Colorado, passing an estimated 10,000 residents by 2024, while keeping its quaint downtown, parks, and open space along the Poudre and Timnath Reservoir. Whether you're in a new neighborhood or on acreage outside town, our local team already knows the area and can tell you what to expect before your install ever happens.
